2014-15 #TopORUMoments; #13 - Chi Chi Makes History in MLB Debut

TULSA, Okla. – Although he finished his ORU career two years ago, former All-American pitcher Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez had ORU and Texas Ranger fans alike  glued to their TVs as he made his Major League Baseball debut on May 30 against the Boston Red Sox.

While his debut couldn't have gone much better, taking a no-hitter into the fifth, Gonzalez was somehow able to improve on it in his second outing, pitching a complete-game 3-hitter against the defending American League Champion Kansas City Royals.
Combined between his first two starts, Gonzalez went 14.2 innings without giving up a run, making him the fourth pitcher since 1969 to 2-0 without allowing a run in his first two career starts according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
His 14.2 scoreless-inning streak is the longest in Rangers' franchise history to start a career.
